‘WHAT’S GOING ON’   Events for 2012 

April 20-22, 2012  8th Annual BMW VMCA Southern Hospitality at Bench Mark Works at Sturgis, Mississippi. All vintage BMW motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to gather at Craig and Elaine Vechorik’s Bench Mark Works motorcycle museum, campground and vintage parts store for a weekend of vintage BMW motorcycle-related activities. Craig (“Vech”) will present technical seminars.  Awards will be given to five motorcycle owners based on vintage motorcycle criteria, and to five "Vintage BMW Heroes." Children and pets are welcome. A club donation per adult includes: camping, morning and evening meals will be provided (lunch on your own), showers, coffee/soft drinks, door prizes, technical seminars, two area rides, swap meet, free long-distance telephone calls to any country, and a 10% discount off all parts purchased from Bench Mark Works. RV space is only available at city park, about one mile from site. Rally t-shirts will be available for an additional club donation. April 28-29, 2012  27th Annual BMW Flea Market and MotoExpo Sponsored by the Blackhawk Region BMW Association, this huge indoor BMW Flea Market and MotoExpo will be open both Saturday afternoon and Sunday! Motorcycle and accessory dealers, vendors, enthusiast-sellers, and buyers are all welcome. Vendors, register early and get a free listing on our Web site. Enthusiast-sellers, rent a vendor space or sell your items on consignment at our club booth. Buyers will be admitted with a $5 donation. Vendors can set up Saturday afternoon or evening, or early Sunday. Saturday camping is available for both vendors and buyers. Saturday supper, and Sunday breakfast and lunch served onsite. July 20—22, 2012 30th Annual AMCA Wauseon Chapter Meet  The event features a large swap meet, field events, concours judging.   Entrance to the swap meet is free to the public. July 19—22, 2012 40th Annual BMW MOA International Rally  Sedalia, MO  326-acre site. All five of the exhibitor buildings, the beer garden building, closing ceremonies arena, seminar rooms, and several of the on-site restaurants are air conditioned.  The RV camping spaces have full service hook-ups and all of the fairground roads are paved.  Located at the junction of US Hwy 50 and US Hwy 65, Sedalia is within a two-day ride of a majority of our members. This west central Missouri city is 1.5 hrs SE of Kansas City (think barbecue and blues), 2.5 hrs north of Branson (think shows and shopping), 1 hr NW of Lake of the Ozarks (powerboats, restaurants, resorts, shopping), and 3 hrs west of St. Louis (Gateway Arch and Anheuser-Busch). August 17-19, 2012 Annual BMW Champoeg Campout and Vintage Motorcycle Show Campout is on the 17th and 18th, the show is Sunday the 19th. Camping will be in Loop B, Friday and Saturday. There are hot showers, rest rooms and fire pits. A small fee is charged for entering the park. RV sites and cabins can be reserved on the State Park website. Ice Chest available. Participants to bring their own drinks and food items. Also, there will be a vintage motorcycle ride on Saturday on the roads near the park. Situated on the south bank of the Willamette River in the Willamette Valley (north of Salem, Oregon). Beautiful, historic park with extensive bicycle and walking trails. September 22-24, 2012 Annual VMCA Midwest Meet along the Ohio River seventy miles upstream from Cincinnati at Edd Kells farm 11469 US 52, Manchester, Ohio 45144   Breakfast rolls and coffee Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Rib dinner Saturday. Plenty of camping space, RV hookup, hot showers, shelter.  There is an abundance of fire wood Edd urges us to use up.  There is much to see in this part of Ohio. Riding roads are truly scenic. VMCA membership is not required to attend.   $10.00 at gate to offset expenses, 16 years and under free. Bring your grandchildren!
