March 6, 2011  Rochester, VT: David Segal aged 58, passed away suddenly.

David got his start in mechanics working at his father’s ESSO station on Long Island, NY. He once installed a Briggs and Stratton engine in a bicycle and rode it around illegally. This project sparked his interest in motorcycling.

In 1968, while vacationing in Vermont, his parents decided to purchase property, and acquired the farm that is now the home of Emmerson Motor Works.

Eight years ago David acquired a large inventory of BMW parts and parts bikes he’d located in Florida. Fortunately, the seller was well acquainted with vending used parts at various swap meets, including the annual BMW meet at Pecatonica Fairgrounds  at Rockford, Illinois and the AMCA Meets at Duchess County Fairgrounds at Rhinebeck, New York. The seller agreed to help David find his way in his new venture.

For the past eight years, David has hosted an annual Heart of the Green Mountain Swap Meet and Campout at his farm over the first weekend in June.
